If You’re Curious…

My Favorite Place

  • The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. I’ve always been drawn to the way it appears ancient (though it’s not) in such a modern city; the reflections it creates are a masterclass in light and symmetry. I could walk and photograph there everyday.

Favorite Travel Destinations

  • I love, love, love Japan and Norway, though I’m just as happy on a crisp, cold morning in a quiet English village or exploring the large expanses of California.

The Nerd Factor

  • I’m a significant Star Wars nerd. If I’m not discussing photography, I’m likely watching or discussing some sci-fi film or tv series.

Humanity First

  • My worldview is built on a "wide-angle" philosophy: love for everyone and zero tolerance for racism/sexism/oppression. I believe the best stories are the ones where everyone has a seat at the table (and looking great in the process).

You can probably tell I also love dad jokes and terrible puns. Sorry not sorry.

Photography, for me, is about meaning first and visuals second

The Person Behind the Lens

My path to professional photography hasn't been a straight line, but it has always been driven by a passion for photography.

My obsession began when I was young. I always had a small point and shoot camera in my hand when traveling. For years as a child, I documented my family vacations. I’ll never forget the agonizing anticipation of waiting for a roll of film to come back from the lab.

However, I really got excited about photography after doing a photography class in school, jumping into the darkroom and producing my first black and white images. After seeing a Richard Avedon exhibit at the Tate in London, I was really hooked. From then I always a camera in hand, but mostly to document my international travels and my family. While I spent a career thinking photography was a passion rather than a profession, I’ve decided that the "right time" to do this full-time is now.

Partner in Travel

I don’t explore the world alone. My wife, Denise, is my partner in life and my constant creative collaborator, but most importantly my inspiration. When I’m not behind the camera for clients, I’m often behind the scenes helping her document our adventures. You can find her sharing our journeys and travel insights over at Worthy Travels, it’s a project we’re both incredibly proud of.

The Secret Sauce

When I’m working with clients, I like to look past the surface level to unearth the narrative beneath. I like to start by asking: What are we actually trying to achieve here? Once we identify the "why," the "how" becomes effortless. I don’t just take photos; I translate intentions into something visual that actually means something.
